The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week

 

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman sophomore Tobias Solem Karlsen and Lincoln Memorial senior Danilo da Silva have been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Co-Players of the Week for the 2017 season following games played Sept. 4 - 10, the League announced today.

Solem Karlsen, a sophomore from Kongsvinger, Norway, posted the first hat trick for Carson-Newman in exactly two years to lead Carson-Newman to a 4-2 overtime win over Clayton State on September 9. The first goal came in the fourth minute off a turnover on a throw in. Six minutes later, on an attack to the left side of the box assisted by Ashley Kelynack, Solem Karlsen scored his second goal of the game. He scored his final goal of the game on an assist by Dylan McCabe in the 45th minute. The award is his first Player of the Week honor this season.

da Silva, a senior from Campinas, Brazil, scored the game winning goal in overtime as No. 24 Lincoln Memorial defeated  No. 11 Young Harris 2-1 on September 9. The game winning overtime goal came in the 97th minute as he collected a long pass from Andres Pratto and scored on a breakaway. The award is his first Player of the Week honor this season.
