ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman outside hitter Marnie Streeter has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Queens setter Sydney Kunz was tabbed AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Oct. 23 - 29, the League announced today.
Streeter, a sophomore from Goldvein, Virginia, guided the Eagles to three road victories last week. In a five-set victory she recorded 19 kills as she hit .164 at the net at Lincoln Memorial on October 24. She followed that up averaging four kills per sets as she totaled 20 kills and hit .203 in the Eagles five-set victory at Lenoir-Rhyne on October 27. She finished her week with week with 15 kills and a week high .220 hitting percentage in a three-set sweep at Catawba on October 28. This is her third Player of the Week honors this season.
Kunz, a senior from Germantown, Wisconsin, averaged 12.46 assists per set to help the Royals pick up three victories last week. She recorded 48 assists and 12 digs in a four set victory over No. 24 Wingate on Oct. 24. She followed that up with 52 assists and 11 digs as Queens defeated Mars Hill in four sets on October 27. She concluded her weekend with 62 assists (two shy of her season high) and 11 digs as the Royals went the distance with Tusculum on October 28. She currently ranks second in assists (971), assists per set (10.91), and service aces (32) in the conference. The award is her third Specialist of the Week honor this season.
