SAC Tennis Programs Receive ITA Academic Honors
SKILLMAN, N.J. – Three SAC tennis programs have been named All-Academic Teams by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and 17 individual student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, the organization announced this week.
The Tusculum men and women's programs and the Wingate men earned ITA All-Academic Team distinctions, which recognizes ITA member schools with cumulative team GPAs of 3.20 or higher.
The ITA Scholar-Athlete program honors players with a 3.50 or higher GPA during the most recent academic year. Student-athletes must have also earned a varsity letter and been enrolled at their current school for at least two semester to be eligible for the award.
On the women's side, six student-athletes from Wingate, three from Tusculum and one from Newberry were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Earning the distinction were Helen Goreski, Kelli Ferguson, Olivia Poole, Samantha Alschlager, Sarah Martin and Tiffany Williams from Wingate, Kate Hutchinson, Katie Hillis and Kristen Keefer from Tusculum and Marina Ziehe from Newberry.
The ITA men's Scholar-Athlete program recognized four student-athletes from Tusculum, two from Newberry and one from Wingate.
Receiving the awards were Joseph Elphingstone, Luis Zamora, Lukas Winkelmann and Steven Lin from Tusculum, Jeffery Kiser and Vinicius Botelho from Newberry and Matthew Lichtenstein from Wingate.
