TC’s Colston Named Football Gazette Player of Week
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. --- Tusculum College quarterback Tony Colston has
been named the Football Gazette Division II National Offensive
Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday morning.
Colston, a 6-4, 200-pound, senior from Clinton, Tenn., threw for 340 yards and accounted for five touchdowns in Tusculum's 42-35 upset victory over No. 12 Catawba College on Saturday. The former Clinton High School standout set a Tusculum record with 39 completions on 49 attempts with three touchdowns. He also ran for two scores. Colston also became Tusculum's all-time leader in touchdown passes, posting 35 in his career.
Colston was named Football Gazette National Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season for his five TD pass performance at Winston-Salem State University.
He was also named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in his career.
Tusculum (4-4, 2-3 SAC) will host
Lenoir-Rhyne College this Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff from
Pioneer Field. It will be the Pioneers' 2004 home finale.
