WINGATE, N.C.-- The Wingate University
football team built an early 10-0 lead and survived a furious
Newberry College rally en route to a 31-29 South Atlantic
Conference victory Saturday at Irwin Belk Stadium and John R.
Martin Field. The Bulldogs denied a Newberry two-point conversion

No. 25 Mars Hill 31, Catawba 28 (OT)
SALISBURY, N.C. -- On 3rd and 4th-and-1 from
its own 2-yard line in overtime, Mars Hill's defense, led by Jasper
Mason and Chad Prioleau, stuffed Catawba for no gain on
back-to-back plays to lead the Lions to a 31-28 victory over the
Catawba Indians in South Atlantic Conference football action on
Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium and Kirkland Field. With
Tusculum's 26-25 win over Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars Hill remains the only

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tusculum defensive end
Nick Smith blocked a school record three kicks and recovered two
fumbles, including one to thwart a Lenoir-Rhyne scoring drive as
the Pioneers edged the Bears 26-25 Saturday afternoon at Pioneer

BUENA VISTA, Va. -- Led by Rodney Donald and
Jack Woerner's 100-plus yard rushing performances, Brevard overcame
seven turnovers and an early deficit as the Tornados defeated
Southern Virginia University at Bobby Williams Field on Saturday

North Greenville 34, Carson-Newman 27
TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- The Carson-Newman College
and North Greenville football teams fought each other to a
standstill for most of three quarters Saturday at Younts Stadium,
but a late turnover and mishandled snaps on the field goal unit
were the difference as the Eagles fell 34-27 to the Crusaders. [More]
