SAC Basketball Weekly Awards go to LMU’s Johnson, L-R’s Sealey
ROCK HILL, S.C. - With both of their teams locked in battles for the top spot in the SAC basketball standings, Lincoln Memorial's Desmond Johnson and Lenoir-Rhyne's Cameron Sealey put up big numbers in victories, and on Monday were named the conference's Players of the Week.
Johnson, the reigning SAC men's basketball Player of the Year, was highly-efficient in LMU's wins over Tusculum and Catawba. The senior averaged 12 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 81.8-percent from the field, keeping the Railsplitters within one game of Anderson in the league standings.
On Wednesday against Tusculum, Johnson finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds. He then went for 13 points and nine boards on Saturday in LMU's win versus Catawba.
Johnson also averaged three assists per-game last week and added two blocks and two steals.
Sealey, meanwhile, averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, leading Lenoir-Rhyne to a pair of wins and keeping the Bears just one game back of Tusculum and Catawba in the SAC women's basketball standings.
The Mount Holly, N.C., native scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds on Wednesday at Anderson, then followed with a 27-point, seven-rebound performance against Newberry on Saturday, setting a season-high in scoring.
On the week, Sealey went 17-of-20 from the foul line and also recorded three steals.
