ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Four South Atlantic Conference men's basketball teams were named in the first week of the NCAA Division II southeast rankings. Queens earned the top spot in the region, while Catawba is fifth. Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne have been placed seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Royals (23-3, 15-1 SAC) have won four straight to stretch their lead in the conference standings. During the week, Queens averaged over 100 points between the two victories: 97 to Tusculum's 88 and 115 to Newberry's 84.
The Catawba Indians (19-5, 12-4 SAC) are on a six-game win streak and averaged 20 point margins of victory against Coker (94-69) and Carson-Newman (90-75).
Riding a four-game winning tear, the Railsplitters (18-6, 12-4 SAC) had two convincing wins on the week. In the non-conference contest, Lincoln Memorial nearly doubled up Hiwassee (107-54), while in the SAC battle with Newberry, they came away with a 91-85 victory.
The Bears (16-8, 9-7 SAC) are on a four-game slide, but look to end it with games against Coker and Mars Hill this week.
