Wingate Claims SAC Men's Lacrosse Regular Season Title, Seeds for 2023 Men's Lacrosse Championship Announced

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate has won the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Men's Lacrosse title after closing out the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record in SAC play and an overall record of 11-2. With the title, the Bulldogs have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Lenoir-Rhyne earned the No. 2 seed with a near-perfect record of 8-1 in SAC action, while Newberry earned the No. 3 seed with a record of 6-3. Anderson took the No. 4 seed with a 6-3 SAC record, and Limestone claimed the No. 5 spot also with a 6-3 record. 

Newberry won the tiebreaker over Anderson and Limestone thanks to a plus-three goal differential against the Trojans and the Saints. All three teams were 1-1 against each other, so the tiebreaker was determined by goal differential. Anderson won the tiebreaker with Limestone by virtue of a 15-14 head-to-head win.

Rounding out the field, Lincoln Memorial earned the No. 6 seed with a 3-6 conference record this season. Lincoln Memorial, Coker, and Catawba all finished with 3-6 records, and all three were 1-1 against each other. Lincoln Memorial won the tiebreaker thanks to a plus-two goal differential. 

Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne each earned a bye to the semifinals. The quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, April 25 at campus sites with the semifinals and finals taking place at the Sportsplex at Matthews in Matthews, N.C. on April 28 and 30. The tournament schedule is listed below:
