SAC Places 12 On Daktronics All-Region Men’s Soccer Team
BANNER ELK, N.C. - Twelve men's soccer players from the South Atlantic Conference have been named to the have been named to the 2010 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Men's Soccer Team.
Four were named to the first team, including Lasse Sohrweide from Anderson University, who was named the Region Player of the Year.
Wingate University had four selections, while Anderson had
three.
The Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Teams are
voted on by the sports information directors of the Southeast
Region. The region is comprised of the Conference Carolinas, the
Peach Belt Conference, and the South Atlantic Conference, in
addition to independents King College (Tenn.) and North Greenville
University.
Members of the first team are now eligible for Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America honors.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.

Anderson junior Lasse Sohrweide headlines the 2010 Daktronics NCAA Division II all-Southeast Region Men's Soccer Team, garnering Region Player of the Year honors to lead a group of five repeat selections.
Sohrweide adds to his already impressive trophy case this season, supplementing South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honors with his first career Southeast Region Player of the Year recognition. A native of Flensburg, Germany, Sohrweide garners Daktronics all-Southeast Region First Team honors for the second straight season after leading Anderson to the SAC Tournament title in the school's first season in the league. Sohrweide currently ranks among the top 30 players in the nation in goals, assists, and points.
Seniors Adrien Moufflet and Zach Denson joined Sohrweide on the all-region squad, garnering second-team recognition. Moufflet, a native of Bordeaux, Ferance, earned first team All-SAC honors and was also named to the league's all-tournament team. The midfielder finished the regular season tied for fourth in the SAC and ranked 20th in the nation in total assists and was fifth on the team with three goals. A native of Lilburn, Ga., Denson was named to the SAC All-Tournament Team and earned second team all-conference accolades after helping lead the Trojan defense to eight shutouts on the season. As a defender, Denson recorded six assists to rank 10th in the league and 55th in the nation.
Anderson (15-6-2) recorded a stellar 2010 campaign, reaching the NCAA D-II Southeast Region finals for the first time in school history after setting a new school record for wins in a season.
Wingate University
Wingate University senior midfielder Luke Mulholland (Preston, England) and senior forward Jamie McKenna (Blackpool, England) have been named to the 2010 Daktronics men's soccer All-Southeast Region first team.
Bulldog senior goalkeeper Joey Calandra (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and freshman defender Gui Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) were named to the Daktronics men's soccer All-Southeast Region second team. Mulholland and McKenna and their 11 first team brethren will advance to the Daktronics All-American ballot.
Mulholland earns Daktronics All-Southeast Region honors for the third time in his career. The two-time All-American leads the team and shares the SAC lead with his 0.50 assists per match. He is 14th in the NCAA Division II in the same category. The 2009 SAC Player of the Year assisted on Wingate's last three game-winning overtime goals of the season. His 100 points is the 13th highest total in SAC history. Mulholland is a four-time All-SAC performer.
Earlier this month, McKenna was named first team All-SAC. He leads Wingate and ranks second on the SAC charts with 13 goals this season. His 29 points also lead the team and rank second in the conference. He ranks in the top 30 nationally in points per game, goals per game, total points and total goals.
McKenna leads the league with seven game-winning goals. He scored both of Wingate's goals in the 2-0 win at Catawba College. McKenna also scored twice against St. Andrews Presbyterian College and Brevard College. He had the game-winner in overtime against Anderson, while also scoring the only goal of the match in Wingate's season-opening win at UNC Pembroke.
Calandra leads the league with a 0.92 goals against average, while ranking in the top 30 nationally in the same category. He is second in the SAC with six shutouts this year. Calandra collected a season-high six saves at Brevard. He had five saves in Wingate's 6-0 win over then-number 18 Carson-Newman College, as the Bulldogs handed the Eagles their only league loss of the year. Calandra has 46 saves on the season, with a .730 save percentage.
Andrade helped anchor a Wingate defense that allowed only 21 goals in 20 matches this season. The Bulldogs were second on the SAC charts in goals allowed (1.05) and third in goals against average (1.02). Andrade also netted a goal in Wingate's 8-0 win over Newberry College. He started all 20 games he played during his freshman season.
Lincoln Memorial University
Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer players Lucas Pereira (Monte Siao, Brazil) and Aaron McKenna (Birmingham, England) have been named to the 2010 Daktronics All-Southeast Region First and Second Teams.
Although this is his first season to earn All-Southeast Region First Team status, Pereira, a 6-1 senior defender, makes his second appearance as an all-region performer. Last year, in his first season with the Railsplitters, Pereira was named First Team All-South Atlantic Conference while helping the LMU men finish the season with a 10-5-1 overall record which included a 6-1-1 regular season conference finish. With Pereira's help this season, the Railsplitters finished the 2010 season with a 10-6-1 record and a 6-3 conference mark. He will end his two-year career with the Railsplitters having tallied four goals, three assists and 11 total points from his defensive position.
McKenna, a four-year letter-winner with the Railsplitters, also earned All-Southeast Region Second Team as a sophomore and again as a junior and has been a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference performer before earning All-Southeast Region Second Team for the third consecutive year. In addtion to his athletic accolades, McKenna has been named NSCAA Scholar All-Region and was recently named the South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete for Men's Soccer. Throughout his four-year career with the Railsplitters, McKenna has tallied four goals, nine assists and 17 points from his defensive midfield position.
Carson-Newman College
Senior defender Matthew Finlay (Liverpool, England) and junior forward Robert Hill (Middlesbrough, England) were named to the 2010 Daktronics All-Southeast Region team.
Finlay and Hill both garnered second team honors. They helped guide the Eagles to a share of the South Atlantic Conference regular season title, as C-N finished the year at 12-5-1 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
Finlay, who was also a first team All-SAC selection this season, anchored a C-N defense that produced four shutouts and allowed 27 goals in 18 matches. He also scored one goal. Finlay was a first team Daktronics All-Southeast Region selection a year ago.
Hill led the conference in shots (78), was third in points (27) and fifth in goals scored (11). He had three match-winning goals and produced a hat trick in a 4-2 conference win at Lenoir-Rhyne. Hill also received first team All-SAC honors this season and was a first team Daktronics All-Southeast Region selection in 2009.
Mars Hill College
Mars Hill's Richard Osterloh was named to the 2010 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Men's Soccer second team.
Osterloh, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was named to the All-South Atlantic Conferece first team and was selected Freshman of the Year. He led the conference with 2.56 points per game and 1.11 goals per game.
