SAC Weekly Soccer Awards go to Lenoir-Rhyne’s Garcia, Catawba’s Waller
Lenoir-Rhyne forward Mario Pinos Garcia and Catawba midfielder Sophie Waller have been selected as the SAC Soccer Players of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne forward Mario Pinos Garcia and Catawba midfielder Sophie Waller have been selected as the SAC Soccer Players of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Garcia led L-R to a 2-0 week by scoring three goals and adding an assist. Against Montreat on Wednesday, Garcia had two goals and an assist in the Bears' 5-1 win.
He followed that with another goal in Saturday's 4-1 win over Brevard.
Garcia currently has four goals and two assists on the season.

Waller turned in a two-goal, one-assist week to lead Catawba to a pair of victories. On Wednesday versus Pfeiffer, the freshman tallied the game winner – her second of the season -- with just 43 seconds remaining as the Indians took the match, 3-2. She also assisted on an earlier goal in the contest.
Waller scored again in Catawba's 2-1 SAC victory at Carson-Newman, improving the Indians' league record to 3-2.
