The South Atlantic Conferences Places Seven Teams in United Soccer Coaches Men's Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The United Soccer Coaches announced its Division II men's soccer regional rankings on Tuesday (Sept. 4), with seven teams representing the SAC in the southeast, going in order from No. 4 through No. 10.
Preseason favorite, Wingate, leads the way after starting the season 1-1. The Bulldogs opened up with a 2-1 loss against No. 25 Rollins, but got in the scoring column with a 3-2 win over Saint Leo.
The No. 5 spot is held by the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne, who also has split their two matches thus far. They lost 3-2 to the No. 3 team in the region and No. 17 nationally, Limestone. The Bears bounced back with a 2-1 victory against Lees-McRae.
At No. 6 is Queens University of Charlotte with an even 1-1 record. After shutting out Clayton State 1-0, the Royals dropped their contest with No. 17 Limestone 1-0.
Anderson is No. 7 in the southeast, after downing Lees-McRae 3-0. At No. 8 is Carson-Newman who defeated Clayton State 3-0 in their lone match. No. 9 and No. 10 are Tusculum and Mars Hill, both of whom are 2-0 in 2018. The Pioneers have won 1-0 over Emmanuel (Ga.) and 3-0 over King (Tenn.). The Lions have found victory against Shorter and Emmanuel (Ga.) by scores of 2-1.
South Atlantic Conference action will begin in one week on Wednesday, September 12.
