ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played during Feb. 4 through Feb. 10. Anderson's Kayson Boatner earned player accolades, while Wingate's Aubrey Reep garnered pitching honors.
A freshman infielder, Boatner led the Trojans to a 5-1 week, including sweeps of North Greenville and Lees-McRae. The Fortson, Ga. native batted .667, had an on-base percentage of .727, and posted a 1.056 slugging percentage. On the week, she blasted two homeruns (in the same game), knocked in six batters, scored five runs, and walked four times. This is Boatner's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
Reep, a junior right-handed pitcher, went 3-0 on the week, highlighted by a no-hitter in the 10-0 win over Barton. The Eastover, N.C. native allowed just six hits over 18 innings of work, piling up 31 strikeouts against only three walks in three complete games. Reep relented three earned runs for an earned run average of 1.17. She was also stellar at the plate, having a .421/.455/.684 slashline. Reep collected two doubles, a homer, nine RBI, and two walks. This is Reep's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
