ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson's women's basketball team continues their climb in the latest D2SIDA national rankings, tabbed at No. 14, while tabbed No. 24 by WBCA. Newberry joined the poll for the first time this season at No. 25.
The Trojans (12-2, 6-0 SAC) are on a 10-game winning streak, including two conference games during the week to skyrocket up in the national standings. Anderson is second Division II with 47.36 rebounds per game. The Trojans are also sixth nationally in defensive rebounds per game with 32 and seventh with 663 total rebounds.
Individually across Division II, junior guard Alexy Mollenhauer ranks fourth in defensive rebounds per game (9), tied for ninth in double-doubles (8), sixth in total rebounds (160), and 12th in rebounds per game (11.4).
The Wolves (10-1, 4-0 SAC) have made their first appearance of the season in the national rankings via D2SIDA week seven poll. Nationally, Newberry tops the charts in defensive rebounds per game, averaging 34 per contest.
Individually, Shelby Britten ranks fifth across Division II in three-point field goals per game with 3.45.
Once again in the D2SIDA southeast regional rankings, five SAC teams earned mentions. Anderson overtook the No.1 spot, while Newberry, Carson-Newman, and Wingate remained in the third through fifth slots. Tusculum jumped to No. 7.
The Trojans (12-2, 6-0 SAC) are the No. 1 team in the region and No. 14/24 in the nation, receiving five of the six first-place votes in the southeast. On the week, Anderson topped two SAC foes on the road: Wingate 67-65 in overtime and Coker in another tight contest (64-55).
The Wolves (10-1, 4-0 SAC) are holding steady at third in the region and make an appearance at No. 25 in latest D2SIDA national poll. The team took down Lincoln Memorial to remain perfect in conference action, 95-88.
The Eagles (11-3, 4-2 SAC) stay at No. 4 in the southeast. Carson-Newman won their SAC game against Catawba 90-77, with senior guard Haris Price earning AstroTurf Player of the Week honors for her 39 points in the contest.
The Bulldogs (9-4, 4-2 SAC) remain No. 5 in the region. Wingate split the week in conference action with an overtime loss to nationally-ranked Anderson and defeating Mars Hill.
The Pioneers (9-2, 2-2 SAC) maintain their No. 9 spot with three wins on the week, including a SAC victory. Tusculum downed Bluefield St. by 58, Livingstone by 20, and Lenoir-Rhyne by 21.
