REGIONAL CHAMPS: Anderson Women's Golf and McGaha Dominate the Field
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Anderson Women's Golf Team dominated the 2024 NCAA South Super Regional to be crowned Regional Champions this afternoon. The Trojans won the regional by 19 shots as a team, finishing with a dominant -3 showing in today's final round.
The accolades didn't stop there as Kennedy McGaha won the individual medalist and regional championship in dominating fashion as well. The SAC Golfer of the Year shot her third consecutive 68 to finish the tournament with a -12, nine shots ahead of Sara Ericsson of Lynn. McGaha carded four birdies and no bogeys on the day.
Kennedy Gooding finished tied for fourth place while Jessica Rathbone finished tied for 10th.
Limestone had a solid final day, moving up two spots to finish in eighth place as a team. Wingate moved up one spot to finish 10th overall.
Individually, Lauren Martin finished tied for 20th with a 222 (+6) and Charlotte Colley finished 26th with a 224 (+8) but won't advance past regionals.
The Trojans punch their ticket to the NCAA National Championships in Orlando, Fla. Play begins at the Orange County National Golf Center from May 21-25. At the finals, all 18 teams and eight individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. The top eight teams after 54 holes of play will be placed into a bracket and seeded based on 54-hole scores.
