The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during the eleventh week of the 2024 season. UVA Wise's Abby Stoffelen was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Wingate's Leah Knowles was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Stoffelen, a junior from Centreville, Va., had a career day as UVA Wise captured a 16-11 conference win over Catawba on Saturday afternoon. Stoffelen led the charge, recording four goals, one assist, four draws, two ground balls and a caused turnover. She set several personal career marks in the win, including goals, points, shots, draw controls and ground balls.

Knowles, a graduate student from Hickory, N.C., led a strong defense as No. 19 Wingate held No. 11 Limestone to a season-low eight goals and handed the Saints their first loss of the year. Knowles piled up six caused turnovers on the day while also collecting eight draw controls and three ground balls. She also contributed two goals and an assist.
