The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the sixth week of the spring season. Catawba forward Helen Summerell was named the offensive player of the week, while Queens defender Alyssa Bosak was named defensive player of the week.
Summerell, a sophomore from Statesville, N.C., found the back of the net three times to lead the Catawba Indians to a 3-1 win over Wingate last week. The hat trick was the first by a Catawba player since 2016. In all, she recorded five shots in the match and earned six points.
Bosak, a senior from Charleston, S.C., led the Royals to a 1-0 victory over Anderson last week. As the defensive anchor, Bosak was instrumental in holding the Trojans to just three shots on goal with no goals scored. In addition to her stellar defensive play, Bosak scored the game-winning goal for the Royals in the 13th minute of action, the first of her collegiate career.
