ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Tusculum Pioneers claimed their first South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship since 2010, as the Conference regular season came to a close on Saturday (April 13) afternoon. The Pioneers finished the season with a perfect 10-0 record in SAC play and they will be the No. 1 seed in the SAC Women's Tennis Championship, which starts next week.
Wingate closed out the season with a 9-1 conference record and will be the No. 2 seed, while Queens will be the No. 3 seed with an 8-2 record. Lenoir-Rhyne slides into the No. 4 spot with a 7-3 SAC record, and Carason-Newman will be the No. 5 seed after finishing the regular season with a 5-5 record. The No. 6 seed will be Lincoln Memorial, who also finished the regular season at 5-5 in SAC play. The Eagles won the tiebreaker over the Railsplitters by virtue of a 4-3 win during the regular season.
Rounding out the field are Anderson and Catawba at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. Both teams finished the regular season with identical 4-6 records, but Anderson defeated Catawba 5-2 to claim the No. 7 spot.
The 2019 South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Tuesday (April 16) before moving to the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on April 18 and 19. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
