The South Atlantic Conference Announces 2019 Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Following the completion of the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship the major awards for the meet were announced. The results are as follows.

Winning the 2019 SAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year Award was Queens' Elise Ulseth. She won the women's pentathlon, was first in the women's long jump, sixth in the triple jump, high jump and 60-meter hurdles, while also finishing seventh in the 4x400-meter relay.

Taking home the 2019 SAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Meet Award was Queens' Hannah Wolkenhauer. She won the women's 3000-meter run and placed second in the women's mile and in the women's 5000-meter run.  

The 2019 SAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet went to Wingate's Vanisha Wilshire. She won both the women's high jump and triple jump, while taking home third place in the women's long jump.

For the second year in a row, Queens' head coach Jim Vahrenkamp was named SAC Indoor Coach of the Year. Vahrenkamp led the Royals to their second consecutive indoor championship, scoring 188 points as a team.

The 2019 SAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year Award is still to be determined. Following the completion of the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship, the head coaches will vote on the top track and field performer throughout the entire 2019 season.
