ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for events during March 11 through March 17. Lenoir-Rhyne garnered both the track and field awards with Saidah Hardwick and Autumn Drayton, respectively.
A sophomore sprinter, Hardwick won the 400 meter dash and was a member of the winning 4x400 meter relay team at the Lenoir-Rhyne Southside Power & Fitness Invitational. The Rolesville, N.C. native's time of 56.30 in the solo race is currently the sixth-best in Division II and the time of 3:56.56 in the 4x400 relay is 15th nationally. At the meet, Hardwick also finished second in the 4x100 meter relay and fifth in the high jump. This is Hardwick's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
A junior thrower, Drayton set multiple personal bests and finished first in the discus and hammer throws at the same meet. The Charlotte, N.C. native also placed fifth in the shot put and javelin. Drayton's mark of 46.22 meters (151' 8") in the discus is a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying distance. This is Drayton's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
