Seven SAC Student-Athletes Named to D2CCA All-Southeast Region Volleyball Team, Alles Earns Player of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Seven South Atlantic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2018 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region Volleyball Wingate's Rachel Alles was tabbed as the Region Player of the Year.

Wingate led the way with a region-high three players being honored. Alles, a junior setter, was named as the top player in the region and earned a spot on the first-team. She led the Bulldogs to a regular season and tournament title while handing out a region-high 11.58 assists per set, collected 3.41 digs per set, and registered 21 double-doubles. Seniors Hannah Givens and Phoebe Havenaar were placed on the second team. Givens led the SAC outside hitters with a .213 hitting percentage, while knocking down three kills per set. Havenaar, the SAC Tournament MVP, took the top spot in hitting with a .342 percentage, ranking fourth in the conference with 3.27 kills per set.

Queens's Casey Tarvin was the only other first-teamer in the SAC. Tarvin finished second in SAC statistics with 3.70 kills per set, while collecting a league-best 392 kills. The sophomore also contributed 4.34 digs per set and notched 17 double-doubles on the season.

Angelica Arroyo of Lenoir-Rhyne earned a second-team nod after ranking third in the conference with 3.57 kills per set, collecting 2.57 digs per set as well.

Morgan Ballard, the Carson-Newman libero, was honored with a second-team recognition. The junior ranks second in the nation in digs per set with 7.61. On three occasions, Ballard tallied at least 40 digs, including a 51 dig effort against Lenoir-Rhyne.

Rounding out the second team is Anderson's setter Emily Conlin. The junior is second in the SAC with 11.42 assists per set in addition to 21 double-doubles on the season thus far.
