Wingate Places Two on AVCA All-America Teams; Anderson Collects Honorable Mention

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its All-America teams on Tuesday (Nov. 27). Wingate and Anderson have players mentioned in the 2018 edition.

Rachel Alles, junior setter, is the fourth Bulldog to make it as high as the second-team. Thus far, the Tinley Park, Ill. native is averaging 11.61 assists per set, 3.24 digs per set, and 0.62 blocks per set. The SAC Player of the Year has helped the Bulldogs reach the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinals, with first serve taking place on Thursday (Nov. 29).

On the third-team for Wingate is Phoebe Havenaar, senior middle blocker.  Alongside Alles, the pair become the ninth and 10th different AVCA All-American for the Bulldogs and is the fourth time multiple players are named in one All-American class (2013, 2014, 2017). The Naperville, Ill. native is averaging 3.23 kills per set on a .333 hitting percentage, while blocking 0.87 attacks per set.

Emily Conlin, Anderson's junior setter, was named as a Honorable Mention. The Trojans reached the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Semifinals due in part to the efforts of the Glendale, Ariz. native. On the season, Conlin averaged 11.27 assists per set, 4.09 digs per set, and 0.49 service aces per set.
