ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the first week of the 2019 season. Lenoir-Rhyne's Taylor Prall takes the first Player of the Week award, while Wingate's Rachel Alles was named the first Specialist of the Week.
A junior outside hitter, Prall lead the Bears to a 4-0 record over the weekend. She had a career-high performance against Francis Marion with 17 kills and a .654 hitting percentage. Prall finished the weekend by accumulating 45 kills, tied for the most in the league, 37 digs, four aces and four blocks. This is Prall's first Player of the Week honor.
Reigning SAC and Region Player of the Year Alles, a senior setter/right-side hitter for No. 25 Wingate, lead the Bulldogs to a perfect 4-0 record at the Queens Fall Classic. Alles pulled together 5.0 assist per set, while adding 3.18 digs, 1.82 kills, 1.18 blocks and 0.64 aces per set. She showed just how ready she is for this upcoming season by gathering 22 assists, 13 digs, eight kills and seven blocks in the match against Converse. This is Alles's first Specialist of the Week honor this season.
