Nestled at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains, Greeneville’s rich heritage as the home of the 17th U.S. President features the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site and National Cemetery. Greeneville has grown to a population of 15,170 and is the county seat of Greene County, an area known for its scenic mountains and agricultural traditions.

J.C. Red Edmonds Field

Home of the Tusculum Pioneers. The J.C. Red Edmonds Softball Field features a state-of-the-art playing surface and lights. The field is part of the Niswonger Sports Complex.

Spectator Policy

Spectator Policy for 2021 SAC Softball Championship Hosted by Tusculum
April 19, 2021

Fan attendance for the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship at Tusculum University will be limited to two (2) persons per student-athlete of each participating team. Admission is FREE but fans must be on the pass list for their respective team to be admitted. No substituions will be allowed. Participating teams must submit their pass list to Assistant Athletic Director Jenna Restivo prior to their games (jrestivo@tusculum.edu).

The main grandstand bleachers at Red Edmonds Field have been removed to maximize physical distancing. Fans must provide their own chairs and must sit 6-feet apart from other fans. The bleachers next to each dugout are for participating team use only. Fans are not allowed to sit in the bleachers at any time (even if the teams are not using the bleachers).

At the conclusion of each tournament game, student-athletes, coaches and fans will be asked to vacate Red Edmonds Field in order to make room for student-athletes, coaches and fans of the teams playing in the next game. Coaches or team representatives will not be allowed to "scout" games of other teams during the 2021 SAC Softball Championship. (PLEASE NOTE) Fans will be allowed to attend the SAC Softball Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 23rd.

 

DIRECTIONS TO TUSCULUM UNIVERSITY / RED EDMONDS FIELD

From ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA (from the Southeast)

Travel west on I-26 towards Johnson City; Take Exit 37 (old exit 18 - Jonesborough/Erwin) and turn left onto TN 81/TN 107 West; Travel 6.5 miles and turn left onto TN 107 West (follow Greeneville sign); Travel 16 miles and turn left at Tusculum University sign; Go 1 mile and turn left into main campus on Shiloh Rd.

From KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE

Travel east on I-40 and take I-81 North towards Bristol. Take Exit 23 (Greeneville/Bulls Gap) and turn right onto US 11E N; Travel 16 miles. (Note: when reaching Greeneville city limits, continue on US 11E North By-Pass towards Jonesborough/Johnson City); turn right onto Erwin Hwy (McDonald's on the corner / Tusculum University sign). Travel 1 mile and turn right into main campus on Shiloh Rd.

From BRISTOL, TENNESSEE/VIRGINIA

Travel south on I-81; Take Exit 57A to I-26 East (towards Johnson City); Travel 7.9 miles to Exit 38 (Jonesborough - Boones Creek Rd.). Turn right onto 354 South and go 5.9 miles to US 11E South; Travel 18.1 miles and turn left at TN 107 East (follow Tusculum University signs); Make an immediate right onto Sam Doak Drive and go 0.7 miles; Turn left onto main campus on Shiloh Rd.

SAC TOURNAMENT FAN PARKING

After turning onto Shiloh Road, go past the Sand Volleyball Courts (on your left) and the Nichols Tennis Complex and turn left towards upper practice fields. Go up the hill until drive opens up into the parking lot. Parking is not allowed at curbside. Overflow parking will be available at either the Indoor Practice Facility or in the parking lot behind the football and baseball stadiums if the upper lot is full.

HANDICAP PARKING AND TOURNAMENT STAFF PARKING

Parking for tournament staff and handicapped persons is available in the gravel lot next to Red Edmonds Field. Parking passes are required to park in this area. This is a prime foul ball area parking is at the owner's risk. THIS LOT IS NOT FOR BUS OR VAN PARKING

TEAM BUS / VAN DROP-OFF AREA

Teams may drop-off or pick up student-athletes and coaches at the end of Pleasant View Drive. This is a drop-off and pick up area only. Buses and vans are not allowed to park on Pleasant View Drive, Louisa Avenue or Bird Drive. Buses and vans may park on the main campus.

Coming from Andrew Johnson Hwy. (US 11E)

Travel approx. 2 miles, passing the Tusculum University on your right. Turn right onto Old Erwin Hwy. Go one block and turn right onto Pleasant View Drive (the widest street in Greeneville - used to be a runway for the old airport). Edmonds Field is at the end of the street. BUSES: Please drop off at the end of Pleasant View Drive.

Coming from Hwy. 107

Turn left at Tusculum University sign (Erwin Hwy). Travel approx. 1/2 mile and turn left right onto Old Erwin Hwy. Go one block and turn right onto Pleasant View Drive (the widest street in Greeneville - used to be a runway for the old airport). Edmonds Field is at the end of the street. BUSES: Please drop off at the end of Pleasant View Drive.
