Lenoir-Rhyne's Brown and Wingate's Pajt Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Wingate's Esma Pajt was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the fifth week of the outdoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Brown, a freshman sprinter from Mableton, Ga., won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational last week. She posted NCAA provisional marks in both events, winning the 100m with the fastest time in NCAA Division II, 11.34 seconds, and her winning time in the 200m was the second-fastest in NCAA Division II, 23.11 seconds.
Pajt, a junior thrower from Velenje, Slovenia, set a new Wingate record and won the hammer throw at the Electric City Invitational with a toss of 52.49 meters. The throw earns her the top mark in the SAC this season and is an NCAA provisional toss.
