Wingate's Mense and Newberry's Jordan Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Tatjana Mense was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Newberry's Savannah Jordan was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the fourth week of the outdoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Mense, a senior distance runner from Bremen, Germany, turned in an NCAA provisional time of 36:16.59 in the 10,000-meter run at the Flames Invitational last week. The time earned her top-10 honors and is the fourth-best time in the SAC this season.
Jordan, a sophomore thrower from North Myrtle Beach, S.C., earned a second place finish and set a new personal-best in the javelin throw this past week at the Newberry Hub-City Invitational. Her toss was 30.58 meters.
