Limestone's Terry, Lenoir-Rhyne's Ashley, and Wingate's Kotcamp Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Varsity Gems Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played in the tenth week of the 2023 season. Limestone's Zachary Terry was named the offensive player of the week, Lenoir-Rhyne's Nate Ashely was named the defensive player of the week, and Wingate's James Kotcamp was named the specialist player of the week.
Terry, a sophomore from Tega Cay, S.C., scored six goals to go with two assists in an 18-10 win over Lincoln Memorial. He totaled eight points for the Saints and recorded four ground balls and one turnover.
Ashley, a junior from Bradenton, Fla., caused four turnovers against Tusculum in a dominating 21-4 win, one shy of the single game record for most caused turnovers in a game in Lenoir-Rhyne history. Terry held the Pioneers to just four goals and 19 total shots.
Kotcamp, a graduate student from Mooresville, N.C., had a huge day, winning 21 of 26 face-offs to lead No. 5 Wingate to a 14-9 victory over Anderson, as the Bulldogs guaranteed at least a share of the regular season SAC title. He piled up 11 ground balls on the day, while scoring the first goal of the contest eight seconds in.
