The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week for games played during the first week of the 2024 season. Tusculum's Claire Smeltzer was named the Player of the Week while Limestone's Chelsey Stonesifer was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Smeltzer, a senior from Smithfield, Va., had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games, with all six hits for extra bases, verses Erskine and USC Beaufort on Friday and Saturday. She collected four doubles, two home runs and eight RBI with a .545 batting average and a slugging percentage of 1.455 on the weekend.

Stonesifer, a freshman from Littlestown, Pa., led the Saints to a 4-0 record during the Valkyrie Classic, picking up a pair of wins while not allowing an earned run. Stonesifer tossed a no-hitter in her first collegiate appearance versus St. Thomas Aquinas and finished the tournament with 10 strikeouts.
