CONFERENCE SPORTS PROGRAMS
SPORTS INFORMATION
SECTION 1. TITLE
1.1. South Atlantic Conference Sports Information Directors Committee
SECTION 2. COMMITTEE STRUCTURE
2.1. The committee shall consist of the Sports Information Director of each member institution. Each SID shall have one vote.
SECTION 3. OFFICERS
3.A. Status and Term of Office
3.A.1. The committee's chair shall serve in rotation by institutional alphabetical order. The term shall be for two years.
3.B. Duties
3.B.1. The chair shall call and preside over meetings of the committee, make all necessary arrangements and report in the proper format all recommendations to the Athletic Directors Council through the AD liaison for the SID Committee.
SECTION 4. MEETINGS AND QUORUM
4.A. Date and Site
4.A.1. The annual meeting of the SID Committee shall be held during the SAC Annual Meeting (Revised, June, 2006)
4.B. Reporting
4.B.1. The written report of the SID Committee shall be filed no later than two weeks after the official meeting with the AD liaison for the SIDs. A copy of the report shall be mailed to the Commissioner.
SECTION 5. GENERAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
5.1. The purpose of the SID Committee will be to recommend guidelines for recognition and public releases for accomplishments of student athletes.
5.2. There will be no publications contests in the SAC.
5.3. The SIDs will have final voting power on the SAC Football, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Baseball and Softball Preseason All-Conference teams, but will consult with head coaches as necessary. These teams will be prepared and released as part of the Football and Basketball Press Conferences, and in conjunction with the Preseason Coaches Polls for other sports (Revised, 2002)
5.4 Statistical reporting to the SAC office will occur weekly (in-season) on Monday mornings for all sports except Soccer and Tennis, which will occur on Tuesday mornings.
SECTION 6. PLAYER OF THE WEEK
6.1 The SIDs shall nominate and vote on Player of the Week during the regular in-season reporting schedule for the following sports: Football (Offense, Defense, Special Teams); Volleyball (Player and Specialist); Men’s Soccer; Women’s Soccer; Men’s Cross Country; Women’s Cross Country; Men’s Basketball; Women’s Basketball; Baseball (Player and Pitcher); Softball (Player and Pitcher); Men’s Tennis; Women’s Tennis (Revised, 2002)
6.2 The Conference office staff shall select the Players of the Week from the nominated candidates. The Conference office shall distribute the Players of the Week with the weekly reports to all appropriate media outlets.
6.3 Each SID who has a Student Athlete selected as Player of the Week shall send the Conference Office a digital headshot image of the winner for use on the Conference website. (Revised, 2002)
