Limestone's Hellman Named 2021-22 South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Limestone University's Ebba Hellman has been selected as the 2021-22 South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday (June 23). The Male and Female Athlete of the Year awards are selected by a vote of the league's athletic directors.

Hellman, a graduate student from Ronninge, Sweden, was named the 2021-22 SAC Women's Golfer of the Year, SAC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and the SAC President's Award winner. A three-time All-American and two-time first team All-SAC selection, Hellman finished the year ranked No. 3 nationally with a 72.93 stroke average. She recorded 11 top-10 finishes, placing in the top-5 in eight tournaments and capturing medalist honors four times this season.

Additionally, Hellman led the Saints to six tournament titles, including a tie for first place at the NCAA Division II South Regional. With her help, Limestone advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship for three consecutive years and qualified for match play all three years, culminating with a national runner-up finish in 2022.

Hellman becomes the first Limestone student-athlete to receive Athlete of the Year honors.
