Men's Basketball
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – UVA Wise forward Yoro Diallo has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week nine of the 2025-26 season, the Conference announced today.
Diallo, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, led the Cavs to a 2-0 week, highlighted by a home win over No. 4 Anderson to give the Trojans their first loss of the season. For the week, the Bevo Francis Watchlist member averaged 15.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks a game. Against Tusculum, he had 17 points and 10 rebounds, while against Anderson he had 14 points and ten rebounds. He shot 55 percent from the field in the two wins and currently ranks second in the SAC in rebounds per game.

Women's Basketball
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard Jennifer Sullivan has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week nine of the 2025-26 season, the Conference announced today.
Sullivan, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., helped the Eagles to win a pair of games last week, including protecting home court against No. 20 Lincoln Memorial. In that victory, Sullivan dropped 30 points and went 7-of-13 from long range, each were career highs. She would add a pair of rebounds and assists in the 76-58 win. Sullivan and C-N followed that with a win over Newberry where she added 15 points and six assists with two steals.

Women's Indoor Track & Field
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the second week of competition. Tusculum's Jahzara Hart earned the track honor while Wingate's Amber Lawless earned the field honor.
Hart, a senior sprinter from Raleigh, N.C., beat a field of 57 entrants to win the 60 meters at the Vanderbilt Invitational. She was fourth in the preliminary round at 7.56 seconds, improved to 7.46 seconds in the semifinals and qualified second for finals, then posted the third-best time of her career at 7.43 seconds to beat a finals field that included runners from Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech and Murray State.
Lawless, a senior thrower from Perth, Western Australia, qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship meet on Saturday in the shot put. At the JDL Fast Track, Lawless' toss of 14.71 meters was the best in the SAC this year.

Men's Indoor Track & Field
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the second week of competition. Catawba's Victor Smith earned the track honor while Wingate's Javier Maxwell earned the field honor.
Smith, a graduate sprinter from West Palm Beach, Fla., broke a school record, a meet record and set the new fastest indoor 60m time in the country on Saturday at the Mondo College Invite at the JDL Fast Track on Saturday with a 6.63-second 60m dash time. Smith also earned a sixth-place finish in the 200m dash.
Maxwell, a freshman jumper from Lenoir, N.C., achieved personal bests in the high jump (second place, 2.03 meters) and the long jump (fourth place, 6.87 meters) at the JDL Mondo College Invitational Saturday.

Swimming
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Swimmers of the Week for meets competed in during the weeks of January 5–19, 2026. Wingate's Fernando Dehaudt was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week, while Catawba's Marit Reckmann earned Women's Swimmer of the Week honors.
Dehaudt, a sophomore from Menen, Belgium, picked up a huge victory in the 1000 Freestyle (9:20.93) and a second-place finish in the 500 Freestyle (4:35.09) against two top-10 teams while on the road at Tampa. Fernando's 1000 Free is one of the top-ranked swims in Division II this month as the No. 5 Wingate University men's swimming team defeated No. 9 Lynn University at the Benson Riseman Aquatic Center on the University of Tampa campus Saturday, January 10.
Reckmann, a senior from Nienhagen, Germany, helped Catawba to beat Carson-Newman in a matchup of ranked SAC teams. She set the fastest times in the SAC this week in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay. She was also part of Catawba's 200 Medley Relay time that was the fastest mark in the country last week
