WePlayed Sports Players of the Week - Apr. 13
Men's Lacrosse
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference has announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during week nine of the 2026 season. Wingate's Sean Clark was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Lenoir-Rhyne's John Mink was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Newberry's Houston Horton was named the Specialist of the Week.
Clark, a junior from Victoria, BC, piled up 10 points on the night as the No. 4 Bulldogs took down North Greenville 17-7. He poured in seven goals while adding three assists to go along with a ground ball. Clark did his damage on 11 shots, putting eight of those on goal.
Mink, a junior from Haddonfield, N.J., helped Lenoir-Rhyne to a top-10 win over No. 9 Anderson on Saturday. Mink was credited with five ground balls and three caused turnovers as the Bears triumphed at home over Anderson 19-14.
Horton, a junior from Texas, controlled possession for Newberry with an outstanding performance at the faceoff X, going 13-of-20 (.650) while collecting a team-high 10 ground balls. In addition to his dominance in the faceoff game, Horton contributed offensively with an assist.

Women's Lacrosse
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference has announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during week nine of the 2026 season. Lenoir-Rhyne swept the awards with Abbey Walker being named the Offensive Player of the Week and Delaney Williams earning the Defensive Player of the Week.
Walker, a sophomore from Canton, Ga., went off for seven goals and three assists in wins over Barton and nationally-ranked Anderson. She opened the week with six goals against the Bulldogs and added a goal and three assists to go with three ground balls and two caused turnovers against the Trojans.
Williams, a senior from Gulf Breeze, Fla., caused seven turnovers for the Bears in the victories, and added eight ground balls. The LR defensive unit permitted just 20 goals in two games and had a standout game against No. 23 Anderson that saw her record four ground balls and six caused turnovers, just one off the school record.

Tennis
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Nellie Wahlberg has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week and Coker's Edoardo Pilia has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played during week nine of the 2026 season, the Conference announced today.
Wahlberg, a junior from Stockholm, Sweden, went 2-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-0 at No. 3 doubles to help Lenoir-Rhyne clinch the No. 2 seed in this week's SAC Tournament. The Bears topped Wingate 4-2, the first-ever victory for LR over the Bulldogs.
Pilia, a freshman from Sardinia, Italy, led the Cobras to 4-0 wins over Newberry and Emory & Henry to close out the regular season. At second singles, he had wins of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 while earning 6-1 and 6-2 wins in second doubles.

Men's Outdoor Track and Field
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fourth week of competition. Carson-Newman's Rylan Jordan earned the track honor while Catawba's Jayden Bennermon earned the field honor for the second straight week.
Jordan, a sophomore sprinter from Johnson City, Tenn., took second in the 200m at the Tennessee Invite on Friday while setting a personal record of 20.83 seconds, which is the ninth-fastest in Division II. On Saturday, Jordan recorded the top mark in the 100m with a time of 10.30 seconds. Jordan's stellar weekend in Knoxville was capped off in the 4x100m relay. Alongside Amine Kasmi, Taylor Madison and Favour Ekpekpe, the quartet of Eagles came in second at 39.63 seconds, the fastest time at the Division II level this season.
Bennermon, a senior from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., placed as the runner-up and the top collegiate finisher in the triple jump at the Southside Power & Fitness Invite, clearing 15.40 meters, good for a school record and a top-10 mark in Division II.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fourth week of competition. Tusculum's Qitarah Castlin earned the track honor while Wingate's Ally Holmberg earned the field honor.
Castlin, a sophomore sprinter from Griffin, Ga., posted the sixth-fastest time in Division II this season and won the 100 meters at the Tennessee Invite with a time of 11.48 seconds, in a field of 58 runners. She also ran the leadoff leg of the winning 4x100 relay that ran 44.50 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in Division II behind their own time of 44.47 set at the Electric City Invitational on April 3.
Holmberg, a junior jumper from Skelleftea, Sweden, finished eighth in the Duke Invitational heptathlon with a school-record and personal-best 4974 points. Her point total is the top mark in the SAC this year. Holmberg had personal-best marks in the high jump (1.60 meters), the 200-meter dash (25.42) and the 800 meters (2:30.74). She had a season-best showing in the shot put (11.15 meters).

Baseball
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Evan Goins was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Player of the Week while Catawba's Colt Wilkins was named Pitcher of the Week for games played during week 10 of the 2026 season, the conference office announced today.
Goins, a junior infielder from Knoxville, Tenn., went 8-for-11 (.727) with three home runs and seven RBI in a three-game South Atlantic Conference sweep over UVA Wise. Goins opened the series with a career game which saw him belt three home runs in a 4-for-4 performance with six RBI in an 18-4 victory. He followed with another 4-hit effort in TU's 13-11 win over the Cavaliers in 12 innings. He started the final game of the series, but was hit by a pitch which cut short his weekend. He also tallied a sacrifice bunt and was perfect in his three total chances at third base.
Wilkins, a senior from Greensboro, N.C., threw a complete game in the Friday night win over Lincoln Memorial, allowing just two runs on five hits and one walk, while matching a season-high with nine strikeouts.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Grace Gregory was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Softball Player of the Week, while Tusculum's Chelsey Stonesifer was named Pitcher of the Week for games played during week ten of the 2026 season, the conference office announced today.
Gregory, a senior from White House, Tenn., had a six-game hitting streak, all multi-hit games, for Carson-Newman in a 4-0 week with sweeps of Catawba and Coker. She recorded seven multi-hit games in her last 10 and 13 multi-hit games this season. For the week, she went 7-for-14 with three runs, a double, a home run, six RBI and a walk.
Stonesifer, a junior from Littlestown, Pa., posted a 3-0 record including a pair of wins in SAC play. She opened with a five-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over Mars Hill. She followed by pitching a complete game victory in a 5-4 victory over 18th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne. She also pitched two shutout innings against the nationally-ranked Bears in the second game of the doubleheader. She closed out the week with a five-inning, complete game win over Emmanuel to improve to 16-7 on the season. During the week, she posted a 1.67 ERA in her 21 innings of work where she recorded 23 strikeouts. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with four walks.
