Lincoln Memorial’s Casto, Gray Named SAC Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lincoln Memorial University shortstop Tommy Casto and starting pitcher Zach Gray have been named the South Atlantic Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
Casto batted .515 (17-of-33) as the Railsplitters enjoyed a 6-2 record for the week, including taking two-of-three games from SAC opponent Presbyterian. The junior tallied six multi-hit games for the week, driving in four runs and swiping five bases. The Deerfield Beach, Fla. native is batting .456 on the season and is tied for the team lead in hits with 26.
Gray went 2-0 for the week, picking up victories over Tusculum and Presbyterian. The senior pitched a complete-game against the Pioneers, giving up only one earned run while striking out seven batters. Gray went the distance in his next start against Presbyterian, allowing again only one earned run and striking out eight batters. The Columbia, TN native is tied for the team lead in victories (3) and leads the staff with three complete games.
