Mars Hill’s Danny Miller, Newberry’s Brandon Petty Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Mars Hill first baseman Danny Miller and Newberry College's pitcher Brandon Petty have been named the South Atlantic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
Miller batted .438 for the week (7-for-16) and drove in seven runs as the Lions won two of four games last week. The junior drove in three runs and added a homerun against Anderson on Wednesday and went 5-for-11 in three games against Presbyterian. The Gaithersburg, MD native played errorless ball in the field in 32 total chances.

Petty went 2-0 for the week, picking up a mid-week victory over Barry and following up with a complete-game three-hitter against Tusculum. The junior pitched 7.1 innings while striking out three batters in the Indians' 4-3 victory over Barry. On Sunday, the Melbourne, Fla. native fanned seven Pioneer batters as the Indians won 3-1.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors in the league.
