Lincoln Memorial’s Willis, Tusculum’s Hammons Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lincoln Memorial University outfielder TeWayne Willis and Tusculum College's pitcher Kevin Hammons have been named the South Atlantic Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by league officials on Monday.
Willis batted .700 (14-for-20) for the week as the Railsplitters went 5-2 for the week. The junior tallied three doubles and drove in 10 runs. The Hazard, KY native was 9-of-10 on stolen bases for the week as well.
Hammons tossed a three-hit shutout and picked up the 4-0 victory over No. 30 Carson-Newman College. In seven innings of work, the senior struck out eight and only walked one batter. The Jonesborough, TN native improves his record to 4-1 and lowered his earned run average to 1.36.
