Mars Hill’s Marc Wassum, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Chris Henderson Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Mars Hill College catcher Marc Wassum along with Lenoir-Rhyne College pitcher Chris Henderson have been named the South Atlantic Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
Wassum had a spectacular week at the plate for the Lions hitting a robust .688 (11-for-16) as Mars Hill went 4-2 for the week. The senior started the week off with a perfect 4-for-4 performance against USC Upstate. He drove in four runs and tallied one double and one homerun in the 9-5 victory. Against Lincoln Memorial University, the Winter Park, Fla. native went 7-for-12 for the series and drove in six runs.
Henderson allowed just one run in eight innings of work to earn the 10-2 victory over Newberry College. The freshman struck out six batters and improved his record to 4-0 on the season. The Lincolnton, N.C. native allowed just four hits in his only outing of the week.
