Weather Forces Changes For Food Lion SAC Baseball Tournament
GREENVILLE, SC -- South Atlantic Conference tournament officials suspended the first day of the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament after heavy rains and lightning pelted the Greenville, S.C. area Thursday evening.
After nearly a three-hour rain delay, the Newberry versus Carson-Newman game was suspended, with Carson-Newman ahead 10-1 in the bottom of the third inning. That game will resume Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Greenville Municipal Stadium.
The scheduled third game of the day, between Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne, has been postponed to 1 p.m. on Friday.
The next game would be between Wingate and the loser between Carson-Newman vs. Newberry at 4:30 p.m. Tusculum would play the loser between Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne at 8 p.m.
Four more games would be played on Saturday to get the tournament back on schedule.
