Lenoir-Rhyne’s Knight, Mars Hill’s Hall Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne University's Rob Knight has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Mars Hill College's Justin Hall earned league Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending March 14, announced conference officials Monday.
Knight, a senior catcher/designated from Sterling Heights, Mich. (Blue Ridge CC), hit .524 (11-of-21) to go along with 15 runs batted in to lead L-R to a 4-2 week including a three-game sweep of SAC-rival Brevard at home. Knight drove in at least one run in every game including five in L-R's 18-12 win over Brevard in game one of a doubleheader Sunday. Knight, a 2009 All-SAC second-team pick, leads L-R this season in batting average (.424) and runs batted in (32).
Hall, a senior right0handed pitcher from Martinsville, Va. (Bassett Hall), threw a complete game shutout allowing just two hits in the Lions 4-0 win in game two over Newberry. He struck out nine batters while walking only one hitter. He also did not allow an extra base hit in the contest.
