ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lincoln Memorial University's Nick Langley has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Wingate University's Marc Rape earned league Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending April 11, announced conference officials Monday.
Langley, a senior from Blaine, Tenn. (Walters State CC), who has played catcher, second base and third base this season, helped lead the Railsplitters to a 5-1 record this week. He hit .520 for the week with 13 hits, 8 runs, 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 10 RBI. Two of his home runs were in the first game against Kentucky State. In the three-game conference series against Newberry, he hit .500 (6-for-12) with 5 RBI and 4 runs scored and a home run.
Rape, a junior right-hander from Lancaster, S.C. (Spartanburg Methodist College), tossed a complete game shutout in Wingate's 6-0 win over Carson-Newman, which clinched the regular season SAC title for the Bulldogs. Rape allowed only four hits on the afternoon, all of which were singles. He needed only 84 pitches to notch his second complete game shutout of the season. He had four strikeouts on the day, while inducing a pair of double plays as well.
