2010 Food Lion SAC Baseball Tournament In Rain Delay Until Sunday
FOREST CITY, N.C. - The 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament has been postponed due to heavy rains in the western North Carolina area until Sunday morning.
No. 2 Mars Hill College and No. 5 Carson-Newman College will resume play in an elimination game at 9 a.m. at McNair Field on Sunday morning.
No. 3 Catawba College and No. 5 Lincoln Memorial will take the field 30 minutes after the completion of C-N/MHC. Catawba is the tournament's only remaining unbeaten team, while LMU advanced by eliminating Tusculum College, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The tournament was stopped before the first pitch of game on the Eagles and the Lions, and the decision to push the games back a day was made later Saturday evening.
The Carson-Newman/Mars Hill winner will face Catawba in Game 10 of the SAC Tournament on Sunday afternoon, following the LMU/Catawba game. A Game 11, a fourth Sunday contest, could take place Sunday afternoon depending on the outcome of the Catawba/LMU matchup.
