ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lincoln Memorial University's Cody Pack has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Carson-Newman College's Robby Thigpen earned league Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending February 28, announced conference officials Tuesday.
Pack, a senior outfielder from Andersonville, Tenn. (Anderson County HS), led the Railsplitters to a perfect 5-0 mark last week, including a conference series sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne University. He hit .632 for the week (12-of-19), had three home runs, scored 10 runs and drove in 14 runs. In a doubleheader against Kentucky State, he went 5-for-7 with a triple, a home run and seven RBI. He also had three stolen bases. Against Lenoir-Rhyne, Pack was 7-for12 at the plate with seven RBI and seven runs scored.
Thigpen, a junior right-hander from St. Petersburg, Fla. (Shorecrest Prep), fired a complete-game one-hitter to lead the Carson-Newman Eagles to a 2-1 victory over Anderson on Saturday, completing a three-game sweep of the Trojans. Thigpen allowed only a sixth-inning single on his way to improving to 1-1 on the season. He gave up one run, struck out four and recorded nine fly outs on the day.
