Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has released its annual Division II preseason poll, with Catawba ranked 24th and Coker 25th.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has released its annual Division II preseason poll, with Catawba ranked 24th and Coker 25th.
Catawba won last year's SAC regular-season title after finishing 21-6 in the conference and 36-16 overall. The Indians – led by SAC Coach of the Year Jim Gantt – ranked first in the conference in runs scored and third in team ERA.
Coker, meanwhile, is coming off a season in which it reached the NCAA Division II World Series in the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Cobras finished 38-16 overall and went 14-9 in Conference Carolinas games. 2014 will mark the program's first season of competition in the SAC.
Defending national champion Tampa is the poll's top-ranked team. Tusculum and Wingate were among the teams also receiving votes.
