Tusculum’s Drewery, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Vieitez Claim SAC Baseball Weekly Honors
Tusculum outfielder Trey Drewery and Lenoir-Rhyne starter Ivan Vieitez have been chosen as the SAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played March 24-30.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Tusculum outfielder Trey Drewery and Lenoir-Rhyne starter Ivan Vieitez have been chosen as the SAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played March 24-30.
SAC Baseball Player of the Week | Trey Drewery, Tusculum
Drewery led Tusculum to a 3-1 week – including a SAC series victory over Coker – by hitting .429 with three extra-base hits.
Drewery drew a walk and scored a run on Tuesday in a 6-4 TC win at Lee. He then had six hits in 11 at-bats over the weekend against Coker, including a 4-for-4, two-double performance on Friday in a 9-6 Pioneer victory. He also homered in game one of a Saturday double-header.
The senior finished the week with a total of five runs scored, four RBI and four walks. He currently leads the conference with 41 runs scored.
SAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Ivan Vieitez, Lenoir-Rhyne
Vieitez – who earned SAC Player of the Week accolades last week – threw a seven-inning complete-game shutout on Saturday against Newberry. He allowed only four hits and two walks in the contest – which was game two of a double-header - while striking out seven.
Vieitez has now won three-straight starts, giving up a total of one run during the stretch. He has a 3.67 ERA in 34.1 innings pitched this season.
