The South Atlantic Conference Announces Baseball Players of the Week, April 19
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Shane Billings was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Dallas Baldwin of Coker was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played April 11-17, the League announced today.
Billings, a junior from Kernersville, N.C., hit .600 with six hits and three RBI to lead the Bulldogs to a pivotal series sweep over Lenoir-Rhyne last week. He posted a pair of multiple hit games and highlighted the series with a double, a home run, a single and three RBI in a 9-4 win in game one of the April 16 double header. He also slugged 1.000, scored three runs and posted an on base percentage of .636 in the three-game span. The award is his first Player of the Week selection this season.
Baldwin, a senior from Burlington, N.C., tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts to lead the Cobras to a 9-1 win over Lincoln Memorial on April 15. He gave up just one earned run, scattered five hits and walked only two batters in his outing. The award is his first Pitcher of the Week selection this season.
