The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Feb. 7

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Justin Dean was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Hunter Hamilton of Wingate was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Jan. 30-Feb. 5, the League announced today.

Dean, a sophomore from Mauldin, S.C., batted .688 with 11 hits, two triples and seven RBI to lead the Bears to a 4-0 record last week.  He posted multiple hits in all four games and highlighted the week with four hits, a triple and a pair of RBI in the 14-9 win over Glenville State on Feb. 4.  At Belmont Abbey on Feb. 1, Dean pounded out three hits, including a long ball in the 6-1 win.  He slugged 1.188 and posted an on-base percentage of .750 in the four-game span.  The award is his first Baseball Player of the Week honor this season.

Hamilton, a junior from Troy, N.C., threw five shutout innings to lead the Bulldogs to a 16-1 win at Claflin on Feb. 4.  He struck out a career-best nine batters in his outing and only surrendered one hit.  The honor is his first Pitcher of the Week plaudit this season.
