The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Luis Ezra was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, while Anderson's Lucas Smith was named AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week three of the 2020 season, the Conference office announced today.
Ezra, a junior infielder from Miami, Fla., led the Pioneers to a 4-0 record last week, batting .538 with two doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs, five runs scored and four walks. Four of his seven hits were for extra bases, earning a 1.154 slugging percentage with a .647 on-base percentage.
Smith, a sophomore right-hander from St. Petersburg, Fla., posted a 1-0 record last week, picking up a 7-0 complete-game shutout victory over Augusta (7-0). He went the distance, throwing nine innings, allowing no runs and just three hits while fanning 16 batters. Smith also saw action in a mid-week contest against Erskine where he threw one inning allowing just one hit with one strikeout.
This is Ezra's first Player of the Week honor this season, while this also marks the first Pitcher of the Week for Smith.
