Coker's Hall Earns NCBWA Region Player of the Week Honors

Wingate, N.C.----Coker University senior outfielder Reilly Hall has been named the Southeast Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), officials announced Tuesday afternoon. Young Harris College freshman right-hander Brody Meeks is the NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.

Hall led the Cobras to a 3-1 SAC series win over UVA Wise last week with an outstanding performance at the plate. Hall belted six homers in the series, including five in the final doubleheader. He finished the week batting .438 with six home runs, a double, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored, and seven walks. His three-homer performance in game four of the series ties a Coker single-game record for home runs.

Meeks picked up two saves on consecutive days as the Mountain Lions swept Lander. He picked up a four-inning save in the series opener on Friday, striking out seven of the 16 batters he faced and allowing one run on two hits with one walk as YHC won 7-4. He returned the next day for game two, pitching a no-hit 12th inning after YHC had taken the lead in the top of the frame. An error and passed ball put the tying run on second with one out, but Meeks struck out the next batter and got a ground out to end the game.
