Wingate's McCullough Earns NCBWA Region Pitcher of the Week Honors

Wingate, N.C.----Columbus State University freshman shortstop Isaac Bouton has been named the Southeast Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), officials announced Tuesday afternoon. Wingate University redshirt sophomore right-hander Brody McCullough is the NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.

Bouton hit .429 with a 1.190 slugging percentage in five games last week. He hit five home runs on the week including three in the opener against Georgia Southwestern. Bouton hit .533 in that three-game series with homers in all three games. He went four-for-five in the opener with the three round-trippers and four RBI, while going three-for-five in game two with a home run and a double. He was two-for-five in game three with another homer and three RBI.

McCullough had two scoreless outings, totaling 8 2/3 innings for the Bulldogs last week, including an 8-0 win over a Catawba team that leads the SAC in batting average. He got the start against the Indians, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts to earn the win. He also threw 2 2/3 shutout innings against Anderson Sunday, allowing three hits with a pair of strikeouts.
