Catawba, Wingate and Newberry Ranked in Latest NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference had three schools ranked in the NCAA Southeast Region Baseball poll released by the NCAA on Wednesday (May 19). Catawba is ranked No. 1, followed by Wingate at No. 3, and Newberry at No. 7
Mount Olive is No. 2, North Greenville is No. 4, UNC Pembroke is the No. 5 team, Columbus State is No. 6, and North Georgia is No. 8.
Catawba has a record of 32-9, Newberry is 25-15, and Wingate is 30-12. Wingate is guaranteed a spot in the championship, having won the automatic bid as the SAC Pilot Flying J Baseball Tournament Champion.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
Selections for the 2021 NCAA Division II Regionals will take place on Sunday, May 23 at 10 p.m. at www.ncaa.com.
