Carricato and Marchesini Named SAC WePlayed Baseball Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Sal Carricato was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Player of the Week, while Newberry's Matias Marchesini was named WePlayed Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week thirteen of the 2024 season, the Conference office announced today.
Carricato, a junior first basemen from Long Island, N.Y., had multiple RBI in all three contests against Mars Hill in the weekend series. For the week, Carricato had four two-hit games throughout the week, which included a double in every game as the Bears went 4-0. He finished the slate with eight hits in 17 at bats with two home runs and eight runs driven in. Carricato posted a 1.118 slugging percentage.
Marchesini, a senior from Asheville, N.C., threw a 1-hitter in a complete game shut out against Emory & Henry with a walk and five strikeouts. Marchesini was perfect through four-and-two-thirds innings in the game as the Wolves won 10-0.
