Lenoir-Rhyne’s Sal Carricato and Catawba’s Casey Gouge Named SAC Baseball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Sal Carricato has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Player of the Week, while Catawba's Casey Gouge has been named the WePlayed Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during the 11th week of the 2025 season, the Conference office announced today.

Carricato, a senior infielder from Long Island, N.Y., led the No. 20 Bears to a 3-1 week, including a SAC series sweep of Tusculum. He hit a scorching .714 (10-for-14) with seven RBIs, five runs scored, and three extra-base hits. Carricato drew three walks, struck out just once all week, and posted an on-base percentage of .778 while slugging 1.071. He went 4-for-4 in the series opener and launched a home run to tie the Lenoir-Rhyne single-season record with 18 long balls.

Gouge, a junior right-hander from Salisbury, N.C., turned in a brilliant outing in No. 15 Catawba's 4-0 win over Carson-Newman in a showdown between the top two teams in the SAC. He tossed six shutout innings, surrendering just two hits while striking out five. Gouge retired eight straight batters at one point and allowed the Eagles to reach second base only twice in his appearance. The win helped the Catawba Indians clinch the series and stay in control of the SAC standings.
